FLUCI was created by a group of four second year Computer Science students at the University of California, Irvine for the HackUCI 2020 hackathon event. FLUCI was made in the midst of the outbreak of 2019 nCoV, 2019 Novel Wuhan Coronavirus, and rising fear of the disease spreading into Orange County, CA. The web-based application, which mainly collects data collaboratively from any site user, uses Google Maps Javascript API to create a heatmap of reported illness across the UC Irvine campus and its surrounding area. The app was created to raise awareness about healthy practices during a potential contagious disease outbreak.
